Amazon is making the iPhone for Kindle app available in 60+ countries, via iTunes and the App Store. A news release with the details is here. The question of the moment is why you can download the app from only 60+ countries, while the actual Kindle is shipping to 100+.
Yet another big question will be the number of Kindle books available. Canadians have been especially vehement in protesting the absence of some major bestsellers due to territorial restrictions.
The app will also work on the iPod Touch.
There are only 77 countries if you try to change your country in iTunes.
So it seems that Amazon added support for as many countries as they could out of those. It’s 63 out of 77.
Thank god, it’s available in Canada. Now I can read my books anywhere. Amazon, I’m going to buy a couple new books just to celebrate.
Now, let’s wait until tomorrow to see what Shortcovers has got up their sleeve.
