UNC's Old WellA big phrase among liberal academics during the ’60s was “the military-industrial complex,” a phrase coined by none other than ex-general Dwight D. Eisenhower. But could we face a new threat today, the entertainment-copyright complex–in fact, complexes, plural, since the U.S. is hardly the only country so burdened? In the next day or so, I’ll have a few thoughts on the forced resignation of a Spanish professor who was too rational about P2P. It’s a warning for us here in the States, and two examples of the potential threat come to mind, one from Harvard and one from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I’ll also tell how the entertainment-copyright complex, though already the target of some conservatives and libertarians, should be of equal concern to progressives.
