Kindlefire childrenIt’s now well known that Kindle Fire has fired up the tablet market. Kindle Fire can be used for color magazines, newspapers, movie, music, web browsing etc. However, Amazon seems also developing reading contents exclusively for Kindle FIre. As an example, Amazon is promoting Kindle Fire as a eBook reader for children. In fact Amazon is developing some childrens’ ebook specially designed for Kindle Fire. It’s not known what would be the format of the ebooks, and how those ebooks will be deliverd to Kindle Fire. It seems a new Kindle reading application for Kindle Fire is on it’s way, or Amazon might tweak the existing Kindle reading application for Kindle Fire to accomodate new format. The following snapshot from an upcoming ebook show that the title is available for only Kindle Fire:

When you click on the little icon following “Available on Kindle Fire”, it shows availability of the title only on Kindle Fire. What it means is that this ebook is not formatted for e-ink Kindles, not even for PC or MAC or iPad application of Kindle reader.

According to Amazon:

Huge Selection: Choose from over 1000 popular children’s books never before available on Kindle. A select list of titles are available for pre-order today with more being added regularly.

Visually Captivating: Enjoy your children’s books in vivid, full-color layouts with the convenience of the Kindle reading experience.

Special Features: Children’s books on Kindle Fire now feature Kindle Text Pop-Up for reading text over images. Just double-tap any text region and it will expand for easy reading.

Definitely, Amazon is developing some contents available exclusively for Kindle Fire to take advantage of multi-touch capability, and color screen. Amazon has alrerady some other formats like Kindle print Replica (a PDF wrapper) for tectbooks available for PC and MAC Kindle reading application, not for any of the Kindles. Similarly, there is Kindle Active content format available for only e-ink Kindles (thouh U.S. only now). Another format – Kindle Edition with Audio/Video – is available for iPhone and iPad, not for Kindles.
