freescale.jpgFreescale announced a new processor for ereaders. The processor includes an e-ink controller and the chip also includes USB and NAND memory, so overall price is reduced. According to Freescale the chip, which runs at 800Mhz is faster than Freescale’s previous chip, which is used in the Kindle and the Sony Reader. The chip includes a low power mode which can turn off when users are reading a page and then run at full speed when turning a page or performing other operations.

The i.MX508, says Freescale, can enable $150 ereaders. More info at E-Reader-Info.
