Editor’s Note: I have asked Attila to keep us informed of his ebook experiment in Hungary.  Here is the latest installment. PB

Hi Paul,

I have promised to keep you informed about what’s going on at Adamo Books. Well, there are some developments I can inform you about.

Part 1.

But first, my Kindle experiment……which is basically a failure so far. My kindle book “Slow But Growing – The Hungarian Ebook Market” has sold 7 copies so far on Amazon.com. I really hoped that people will be interested in it – they aren’t. Joe Konrath has written several times that “ebooks are for ever” and authors should be patient. Well, I am patient but I do not believe that this title will sell significant amount of copies ever…But of course, I will not delete it – it will always remind me that some efforts will never pay off.

Part 2.

But there’s another development I am very optimistic about.

It’s time for me to inform you that Adamo Books is offering an English language historical mystery-thriller title for download. Our latest offering is

CREATORS by Cathrin Smith. [Translated by Lorand Abos. Ed.]

What happens, when a freshly graduated Egyptologist accidentally finds herself part of an excavation, where unearthed objects start to reveal a dangerous story of times passed and yet to come?

What’s behind Mira Haddad’s physical oddities, and the rudimentary ’second brain’ inside her skull? How did a small-sized twelve-thousand-year-old copy of the Ark of the Covenant get buried in sand next to the sarcophagus of Akhenaten, the heretic pharaoh? How could the pharaoh end up there, along with two Egyptian priests, who have microchips embedded into the napes of their gangly heads? How does Mira receive the facts unveiled by Asthar, the black-caped stranger and his Master from the mysterious and breathtaking underground world of the Orgons?

Cathrin’s book is priced at $ 13.68. I am afraid that it is overpriced somewhat but we’ll see… (Amazon has done the pricing after all…) [Current price is listed as $11 on Amazon US. Ed.]

We hope to add more English language titles in the coming months.

Part 3.

German Kindle Store Numbers

Last time I wrote about the sales success of German author Wolfgang Tischer. His Kindle manual sold more than 150 copies in about two weeks. Well, Wolfgang posted his latest number on June 6, 2011: the ebook has sold more than 400 copies in about 3 weeks!

Of course, it’s not only Wolfgang who is selling fairly well on Amazon.de.

A young author,  Daniel Eichhorn has published “Wörterbuch English-Deutsch” at the and of April. He said that his kindle ebook – an English-German dictionary – sold 280 copies in the first week of release!

The biggest-selling ebook on Amazon.de semms to be Matthias Mattung’s “Kindle – das inoffizielle Handbuch…” has been number one for weeks now. Sadly, the author has not posted any sales figures yet…

Well, good luck to all German and non-German kindle authors out there – including me.

Thanks for your time,

Attila Lukacs
