"…Simon & Schuster has selected the LibreDigital Warehouse solution for digital distribution of its content. Using LibreDigital’s solution, Simon & Schuster’s digital warehouse will serve as the central source for all book content, supporting e-commerce including the distribution of eBooks and downloadable audio, book search programs for both SimonSays.com and external search partners, and digital marketing initiatives." – News release.
Details: Also using Libre are Simon & Schuster, Harlequin, Bloomsbury and Hachette USA. See Google news roundup.
What platforms does LibreDigital support? I guess I won’t be buying any e-books from S&S any time soon, as I expect “Safe and secure access to our books” means DRM, and I don’t do DRM.
I went to the LD website, and it’s all business mentality stuff. Not a single thing on their front page is aimed at people who actually read books. This is extremely depressing. And with DRM, I won’t be buying any S&S books anytime soon either.
