NOTE: I tried trading in my Kindle G1 (the very first Kindle), and SONY said it was not eligible for the $50 trade-in credit.
Alas.
@Matt D, FWIW, according to the trade-in wizard on Sony’s website the Kindle 1 (and all other old Kindles) are eligible.
@Brian / AnemicOak, the SonyStyle website will let me choose the original Kindle as something to trade in, but when I hit calculate (with all the good boxes about condition of the unit checked), it tells me, “This device is eligible for free recycling only”.
Doing the same thing with a Kindle2 shows the offer for $50.
Maybe it’s based on zip code? I’m in Austin, TX.
