  1. That same blog post read from Canada refers to $129.99 which is the price the devices dropped to for the Mother’s Day promotion initiated in late April. Walmart Canada, having to be the price leader, sells it for $128.00.

    This is a direct effect of lower competition in Canada: Kindle is not sold in stores here; B&N isn’t in the market at all; Sony’s only 6″ device (sold in Canada PRS-650) is $249.99 … but it has been out of stock for weeks now.

    In this context, the $129 Kobo here is pretty good value (and it does work with library books and plays well with non-Kobo sourced ePubs).
