Screen shot 2010-03-22 at 5.45.46 PM.pngThe NY Times is reporting this. According to the article Perseus is the largest distributor of independent publishers and handles 330 small presses including, Grove Atlantic, Harvard Business School, Zagat, among others.

Perseus will set the consumer prices and Apple will be the agent, taking a 30% cut. All publishers whose books are distributed by Perseus will be allowed to opt into the deal.

The question now, which is not answered in the article, is what will Amazon’s stance be. As we previously reported, Amazon has said that it would not accept a deal like this from anyone other than the big five.
