Nokia N800 Internet TabletEngadget and Slashgear have details on the new Nokia N800 Internet Tablet. From the Slashgear site:

– VGA (640×480) webcam
– Integrated Stand
– 4.13 inch screen (same as the 770)
– Stereo Speakers (770 has mono)
– Microphone has moved to the top.
– Audio jack and mini usb port have moved to the right side.
– Requires mobile phone (with Bluetooth) for cell connection.
– Wifi and Bluetooth

RAM [and] CPU, a source of some frustration among 770 owners, are reported to be 128MB and 320MHz. The nubbin on the top left hand side is the webcam, which is retractable to prevent it from catching on clothes or braces. Previous information also points to the N800 having dual miniSD slots, although the built-in GPS some were hoping for is conspicuous by its absence.

So, e-book fans, how well will this baby address the shortcomings of the 770? Nokia has paid attention to the howls about the earlier Nokia tablet’s CPU and RAM. Also, does anyone have fresh price information on the N800?

The good news: Could the N800 drive down prices for used 770s? Presumably. Meanwhile the 770 is going for $350 at CompUSA.

  1. Um… if the screen is the same as the 770, how can that be a step backwards? Everything I’m seeing says that it’s still 800×480; granted the new webcam only supports 640×480 but that’s not the display…
