Blog Kindle (not an official Amazon blog) did a comparison on search volumes of the 3 leading ereaders – Kindle, Sony and Nook. They did it by using Google Trends from Google Labs. Here’s the graph. It’s pretty amazing that the Kindle figures are so high even during the period when new Sonys and the Nook were introduced.
Not too surprising, really. I think people forget that the Kindle is available in 175+ countries, whereas the Nook is only available to 2 countries and the Sonys are officially in 5 or 6–although people can still find ways to get them elsewhere.
The graph suggests that people compared the new devices to the kindle. So whenever there was a bump in the nook or Sony reader, people also searched for the kindle.
