George Kerscher, secretary general of the Daisy Consortium, will be the new president of the International Digital Publishing Forum. Blind, George has been a vigorous advocate of the ePub standard and measures to make e-books more usable by people with disabilities. Under him, standards efforts should accelerate.

IDPF Board of Directors Election Results December 2009
Dear IDPF Members,
Voting closed to fill the seven open IDPF Board of Director seats, plus position of IDPF President at 2400 EST on Thursday December 17th. Eligibility for voting required that the candidate be from an IDPF member in good standing.
Position of IDPF President (1 seat)
A quorum was achieved for election for IDPF President with 54% of eligible members casting their vote. The vote used the IDPF Remote Voting procedure via email. There were two candidates for the open position. Each FOR vote received one point; the candidate with the most points was elected.
Congratulations to George Kerscher, DAISY Consortium who has been elected IDPF President and automatically receives one of the open Board seats.*
* As successful candidate for President and one of top seven vote-getters for Board Seat, the next candidate with the highest number of votes will serve on the Board of Directors.
IDPF Board of Directors (7 seats)
A quorum was achieved for this election with 57% of eligible members casting their vote. The vote used the IDPF Remote Voting procedure via email. There were twenty-one candidates for the open position. Each FOR vote received one point; the candidate with the most points was elected.
