But France will not surrender control of its heritage, says Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand. Even if it does work with Google France will continue on with its own digitization efforts.
According to France 24, Mitterrand said that Google can’t be ignored but that France must “keep control of the digitization process and above all the distribution of the digital content … I will say to them again, when I visit them in California, that respect for authors’ rights must be a strict condition of any strong and viable partnership”.
