Facebook reveals the top 100 books that have stayed with users

If you logged onto Facebook recently, you may have noticed some of your friends talking about 10 books that stayed with them in some way. They then tagged someone in turn – maybe you – to continue the list.

Facebook has brought all the data together from these status updates to show what books have “stayed with” Facebook users. Facebook gathered the data from the last two weeks of August.

Here are some of demographics for the people’s whose content was aggregated: The demographics of those posting were as follows: 63.7% were in the US, followed by 9.3%in India, and 6.3% in the UK. Women outnumbered men 3.1:1. The average age was 37.

The Harry Potter series sits atop the list, but that is also taking into account a whole series of books rather than just one. Some of my Facebook friends whose lists I had seen only listed one of the books in the series such as The Prisoner of Azkaban. Throwing a whole series together seems to be a way to get them near the top of the list. I would have much rather seen it broken down by individual books than series because while The Hunger Games was great, I didn’t care for the final book in the trilogy.
