Some posts on the eBook Community List discussed “Copyright Economics”–a big reason for the scarcity of e-titles from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s.
The TeleRead take: TeleRead would help address this issue by providing for compensation for authors and publishers of many recent books, not just those in the public domain. If nothing else, the plan would offer a good infrastruture for distributing even books not covered by a national digital library fund.
