image For FBReader fans, this might be just the ticket—a $149 iPod Touch rival with a 4.3 inch screen and the Android OS.

The GiiNii Moveit tablet is apparently a prototype, and reportedly there are Issues such as the responsiveness of the touch screen.

Still, resolution is 480 by 272, good enough.

Furthermore, imagine what this could do with voice over IP working with the built in WiFi. A mike is bulit in.

  1. For those of you that want more screen resolution you could try a Nokia 770 internet tablet. It has a 4.1″ 800×480 LCD touch screen, a microphone and speaker. It’s capable of running FBReader and VoIP clients in the guise of google chat (preinstalled) and gizmo which you will have to find. Best of all it’s typically bought for around 150USD.

The only downside is that because the 770 is “old” (in terms of internet years anyway) they can be hard to find – to the point of having to get one second hand.

Perhaps I’m biased as all my e-book reading is done on my 770!

  2. No, Dave, you’re not biased at all. I’d have done well to have mentioned the 700–I still own one myself! The res is indeed better. But big appeals of the newcomer could be (1) its low price new and (2) all the apps that will be available in Android.

    thanks,
    David
