  1. It’s been “temporarily” closed to new sales since Agency Pricing went into effect in April. I guess this just makes it official. It’d be nice if they sent an email to account holders letting them know they have until Dec. 19th to re-download their books if need be (at least I haven’t gotten one, although all I have are some freebies they did a couple years ago). I suppose it’s better than PaperBack Digital who was there one day and closed the next.

    Another example of the problems with DRM. Even if you download a backup copy now you may or may not be unable to use it later on a new device/computer unless you go ahead and un-infect it.

    As of November 19, 2010, the HarperCollins eBook Store has been discontinued. We are contacting you so that you have the opportunity to download and archive the titles you have purchased. To download previously purchased titles, sign in and visit your ‘My library’ page. After December 19, 2010 titles that have not been downloaded will no longer be accessible.

    We appreciate your patronage, and we regret any inconvenience this may cause you.
