DigiTimes is reporting that E Ink has launched a capacitive touch screen and a color electrophoretic display.
Hanvon has evidently adopted the color EPD for an ebook reader to be launched sometime in the forth quarter. The color panel uses the new Pearl display (the one used in the Kindle) along with a color filter. E Ink expects color ebook readers to account for 10% of the global market in 2011. No further information was given in the article about the capacitive touch display.
E Ink “has posted consolidated revenues of NT$5.169 billion (US$162.42 million) for the second quarter of 2010 with a gross margin of 39.6%. Operating profit was NT$1.134 billion, up 80% sequentially. EPS for the second quarter came to NT$0.65, and NT$1.35 for the first half of the year.”
Thanks to E-Reader-Info for the heads up.
