The ‘pay for what I want’ issue

One of the arguments against public libraries, physical or digital, is that taxpayers are paying for plenty of content that they don’t use. One counter-argument would be that in terms of greater public enlightenment, the sacrifices are more than worth it. But now there’s another point to make.
