‘Remembering Mrs. Lee’: More on the glories of hyperlocal blogs

In this Google-and-Amazon era, libraries should look for new ways to prove their worth. Among other things, libraries could nurture local blogging with pointers to library resources. I especially like the idea of hyperlocal blogs. When I wrote of the death of an 87-year-old woman on Taney Avenue down the hill from me, I hadn’t any idea that two neighbors would separately run across my TeleBlog post, by Googling her name. One pointed me to an excellent story in the Alexandria Port-Packet. Headlined Remembering Mrs. Lee, the article would have been still better with comments that came my way. Offline, incidentally, I found out that the FedEx truck that killed her was driven by the same driver who so ably serves my apartment complex. My sympathies to all involved.
