Plastic Logic and Polymer Vision move ahead with e-paper

The BBC reports that UK e-paper manufacturer Plastic Logic has secured 75 million euro venture capital for construction of a factory in Germany solely dedicated to plastic electronics, the building blocks for such things as e-paper devices. At one, Plastic Logic was said to be in talks with Amazon over its own e-paper based e-reader.
A competing supplier of such building blocks, Polymer Vision, has just announced its new independence of Philips: the makers of rollable e-ink displays are now their own company, Polymer Vision Ltd. This is the result both of the Netherlands based electronics giant Philips’ intent to focus on healthCare, lifestyle and technology (a shift that has been going on for a while), and Polymer Vision’s need to acquire extra funding for its market introduction sometime this year.
