Update, 9:30 p.m.: Around 14 gung-ho e-book-lovers showed up with toys ranging from a Ubuntu-enhanced Asus netbook to a Pre and a SmartQ 7 tablet. Paul Biba will have the full lowdown in a day or so. Thanks to Mike Cassidy, R.W. Wood and the other organizers! And, yes, as promised, Steve Jordan “physicalized” The Lens with a CD-ROM copy. – D.R.
A book drawing will be part of MobileRead’s 6 p.m. dinner today, Saturday, at Mango Mike’s— less than a mile from me at 4580 Duke St., Alexandria, VA.
I’ve already donated a paper copy of The Solomon Scandals to the cause, and other writers are welcome to do same with E or P editions. Steve Jordan, most recently author of The Lens, said today that he plans to “physicalize” his e-book. Want your book mentioned here, via participation in the giveaway? Just use the comments section to let people know, and I’ll work you into the main post. Meanwhile I’m looking forward to seeing some familiar Names in person!
A few other details:
- TeleRead will join MobileRead as a sponsor in Virginia—which reflects Alex Turcic’s generosity since his people have already done 95 percent of the work.
- As noted, another meet-up will happen in Frankfurt with some time overlap, and there’s talk of Skype and chat connections.
- Further information from MobileRead is here.
Late Note: Weather permitting I’m hoping to get on my motorcycle and drive down from New Jersey to join the group. – Paul
(Moved close to the top of blog, so it’s easier to spot. Meanwhile we’ll hope Paul can make it—roaring down from New Jersey on his BMW motorcycle. – D.R.)
