holiday searchesI admit it. I’m a geek, and I love using my Google Analytics app on my Nexus 7. I often check it multiple times a day to see how the site is doing and which stories are performing well.

We didn’t post many stories yesterday, but our site numbers were pretty good. I was curious to see which stories performed well. I thought it would be an interesting insight into what people were reading on Christmas Day. By the way, it wasn’t the stories we posted yesterday. Those performed miserably.

There were the (for us) usual suspects. The Streaming Amazon Instant Video article was number one (as it almost always is), so no surprise there.

We get referrals from the Calibre website to ABCs of Format Conversion on a regular basis, but the numbers were particularly high yesterday. Looks like some new eReaders were under trees and people wanted to learn how to use them.

Another old post from Paul Biba (how many of you remember him?) on How To Download Books To Your Kindle supports that conclusion.

The Kindle Freetime workaround for non-Amazon books I wrote about earlier this year has seen new life in the last few days. Looks like lots of Kindle Fires for kids were unwrapped.

Another post that saw new life was Help: My ereader keeps freezing. Ooops. Obviously not all of those presents acted flawlessly. (That one’s still performing today. Sorry folks. They are computers, and they do that sometimes.)

And finally, an article that gives us hope for Barnes & Noble: 7 Must Have Apps For Your New Nook HD. While that article didn’t perform as well as some of the Kindle articles, there must have been a few new Nook HD owners. I wonder how many of them are going to wipe their Nooks and install CyanogenMod.

Several of those articles are still performing well today, leading me to my totally unscientific conclusion that tablets and eReaders were popular gifts this year. I’m sure you’re just as shocked as I am. 😉
