Cellphones vs. iPods: The e-book angle

Bill Gates says that cellphones will win over iPods as music-players. A self-interest in this? You bet. But let’s suppose he is right.
What does this mean for e-books? Well, imagine being able to download an e-book directly to a phone without worrying about a transfer from a PC. That’s possible now with some mobile phones, but if Microsoft supported the idea, it could really take off–just so the screens aren’t too tiny. Of course, right now, Microsoft Reader won’t even run on Smartphones.
