Braille and a walk down memory lane

On Tuesday, June 23, I was at the LSU library to visit an exhibit they had on Braille, this being the bicentenary of Louis Braille‘s birth. I arranged to ride there and back with a friend and her driver as they had an errand to run and could drop me off.
It was great seeing Peggy Chalaron, the librarian who helped organize the exhibit. She used some materials that I had given her when I was there as a student in the late 1990s. It seemed somewhat disconcerting being back. Things did not turn out exactly as planned!
I am pleased that my alma mater has chosen to participate in this anniversary year with such interesting exhibits. I hope that as more blind people explore information science as a career, other opportunities for exhibits and dialog will develop.
