Calibre now converts .docx files

This is a huge new feature, and one that makes me very happy. I like to download stories, compile them in Word to make one big document and then use Calibre to convert them into something I can read on an e-reader. And I'm picky; I like my italics, bolding and other formatting. Previously, I've saved the file as an .rtf, which works, but half the time, I'd forget and save as a .docx file instead, add it to Calibre, and see the "File Format Not Supported" dialog box. Blast! If you have a Kindle 4 (that's the one with the hardware controller and no keyboard), Amazon just released an software update. I don't have a Kindle 4, so I haven't been able to test it out. There are no release notes, and the folks on Kindleboards are saying it downloads very quickly, leading them to believe that it's just a patch. Have any of you downloaded and tried it out? Kobo releases firmware update to permit custom fonts, margins and spacing

If you've got one of the new Kobo Touches, there's a new firmware update available that will give you greater control over how pages are displayed on the device. To update, visit kobosetup.com and download the most recent Kobo Desktop Software, then connect your Kobo to your PC via the USB cable; the update should start automatically.
