Creating and managing Collections on Kindle apps
June 11, 2014 | 3:30 pm

2014-06-11 15.00.41A question came up an older post yesterday about managing Collections on Kindle apps. I said I would do an article with directions and screen shots to answer the question, so here it is. Collections are a feature I love on my Kindle and barely ever use in any other ereading device. For some reason having a clean Kindle screen is important to me, and I don't care as much on other devices and in apps. However, Collections are a must-have feature for many people, and here's how to set them up and manage them in the Kindle apps. While the...

Kindle for Android updated to include ‘time until end of chapter’
August 14, 2013 | 9:00 am

Finally! Kindle for Android just added one of my two "must have" features: time until end of chapter. No, it's not earth shattering, and it won't make buying books any cheaper or easier, but it does make them a bit easier to read. This feature has been on the Kindle Fire, Paperwhite and Touch for some time, and it's one of my favorite features. Amazon Coins — A second look

Here's a question I see parents asking all the time: "How can I limit the purchases my children make on their new Kindle Fire?" It looks like Coins will be the answer. We don't have a lot of details just yet, but according to the release: Amazon today announced another new way for app and game developers to make money on Kindle Fire—introducing Amazon Coins—the...

Good news for Stanza fans: It apparently works under Apple’s new operating system for iPhones, iPads and the rest
September 25, 2012 | 9:07 am

Stanza, one of the best e-reading apps around, was broken when Apple upgraded to iOS 4 or later. Amid the uproar from the app’s users, Stanza’s overlords at Amazon tweaked the ePub-capable app but did not promise future upgrades. But Stanza runs fine under iOS 6, the new operating system for iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches, at least as best I can determine. I did suffer a lockup when I tried to change fonts, but my hunch is that this is probably an iOS 6 issue rather than a Stanza-specific one. A reboot of my iPad did the trick. Let me know if you...
