Tablet Usage: Size Does Matter
January 22, 2013 | 11:00 am

Until recently, I’ve been using an iPad 2 as my sole tablet. I like the iPad. I use it for four main functions: writing, browsing, video and reading. The 10-inch size is perfect for the first three, but it was a bit too large for the last. Because I also use my tablet for scheduling and task management, I tended to take it with me to networking events and client meetings. I always felt a bit silly pulling out such a large device to schedule a meeting or jot a quick note. About a week ago, I bought a Nexus 7 tablet,...

Nexus 10 Back in Google Play Store, Ships in Less Than One Week
January 3, 2013 | 10:00 am

By Adrian Diaconescu | for Technology Tell Google’s Nexus devices have surely proven to be intensely popular, but narrowing it down to one thing that has been stopping people from buying the Nexus trio is its limited availability. The Nexus 7 has been the only device to keep up with the high demand, while the 10—and especially the 4—have been very rare sights. Google Nexus 10 I drive a 1988 Honda and on the whole lead a frugal life. But I have a weakness for e-books and gizmos for reading them. You can’t fathom technology, at the practical level for library patrons and other book-lovers, without using it. Curious where the tech is headed? Well, what costs too much now may someday be in Asian villages and on the racks at Kmart or in the hands of every high school student in Watts or Harlem. I no longer ask for loaners of review units, though. Why worry about offending vendors? Most of my purchases end up on Craigslist or eBay in a...

REVIEW: Google Nexus 7 Tablet
December 24, 2012 | 11:19 am

By Mike McEnaney | for Technology Tell Google’s play in the tablet market is the Nexus 7, a 7-inch screen Android tablet clearly built for on-the-go use; once you play with this one for awhile, you’ll also see it was truly designed around—and for—Google Play. While little headway has been made with regard to challengers of Apple’s iPad, we have to say the Nexus 7 may prove one of the more a formidable opponents as the tablet wars roll along. First off, just to be upfront, an iPad feature the Nexus 7 doesn’t have: no rear camera. And the screen resolution, while...
