A First Look at Indigo Tech!

Indigo Tech is open for business! I snapped these pics today at my local store, and it's about what I expected: a fancier Kobo kiosk, iPads and more! The various wall displays have headphones, speakers, health products such as the Fitbit, iPad creative accessories like a Crayola effects pad, and cases and accessories. The dedicated staff person moved back and forth between the main display and the separate Kobo area. I already have an iPad, and none of the displayed accessories caught my eye. But there are more Indigo stores than Apple stores, so maybe they're hoping to use that to bring...

I wrote earlier about a mysterious walled-off section that just went up at my local Indigo, announcing the impending arrival of something called "Indigo Tech." This morning, there was news in my RSS feed from my friends at Good e-Reader, confirming that Indigo has signed a deal with Apple to carry tablets, Apple TV boxes and other products. TV Commercials Featuring E-Readers

Did you catch Barnes & Noble's new 30-second TV spot for the Nook HD tablet? Along with the device itself, the commercial launched yesterday. And although it's a bit too sickly sweet for my taste (scroll to the bottom of the post to see it yourself), I was intrigued by a brief item about the commercial on the Good E-Reader blog; it pointed out that aside from B&N, Amazon is the only other stateside tablet and e-reader company that has also chosen to push its tech products via television advertising.
