The quarterfinalists for the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards (ABNA) were recently announced. One hundred books were selected in five categories: General Fiction; Mystery & Thriller, Romance; Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror; and Young Adult. Based on message board posts, many writers had been anxiously waiting for this day, which is just one of many steps to go through for ABNA. The Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award Contest (ABNA 2014) is coming up. The company will start accepting entries next month. So, how many of you are entering? The ABNA contest is its seventh year. The grand prize winner will receive a publishing contract with a $50,000 advance. Four first prize winners will get a publishing contract with a $15,000 advance. Kindle “First” has second beginning

Amazon released its latest Kindle First on Dec. 1. It includes four books that have their official release date one month from now. One of these books caught my eye, [easyazon-link asin="B00CQC9O16" locale="us"]Timebound[/easyazon-link] by Rysa Walker. As I read the description, I was a little confused how this is a “first.” The book was previously self-published and had been on the market under the title “Time’s Twisted Arrow” for about a year. Walker won the 2013 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award in June for this book. It seems after some edits, a new cover and a title, Amazon is releasing the book again...
