September 1, 2013 | 1:48 pm

Surface ProI called it earlier this month when I wrote about the temporary price cut on the Surface Pro tablets. I said I wouldn’t be surprised if the cut became permanent, and now it has. Check out the All Things D article on the price cut. Their choice of image is priceless. They are also reporting that the cut, which previously had been available only to customers in the U.S., Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and Canada, is now available in all markets where the Pro is sold. They are also offering a $40 discount on Touch Covers and a $50 discount on Surface RT bundles. In...

July 26, 2013 | 3:55 pm

All Things D has a great article today on the Google Chromecast and the probable reaction from content providers. Reed Hastings says that, one day, Amazon will provide real competition for Netflix. But the Netflix CEO says Jeff Bezos will have to spend a lot of money before that happens: Hastings says Amazon is losing between $500 million and a $1 billion a year as it acquires streaming video content rights. Hastings says he generated those numbers based on the value of the content deals that Amazon won when the two companies competed head to head. Read Full Article ... September 18, 2012 | 5:05 pm

For four straight days last week (September 11 - 14), the second annual International Symposium of the E-Book in Spanish (El Libro Electrónico en Espanol) was held in Mexico City. If the event's name doesn't ring much of a bell, that's probably because it gets very little attention from the English-language press. But according to a recent write-up in Publishing Perspectives, Mexico (and to a lesser extent, the the Latin American world itself) is a locale all digital reading enthusiasts should be keeping close watch of. "Digital publishing is gaining an ever-greater foothold in Latin America," writes Edward Nawotka, the article's author. "And...
