AmazonIt’s been really only a matter of time before Amazon begins branding their own smartphone line. Although the project is still unconfirmed from the source, a DigiTimes report came out on Wednesday that believes the company’s introduction to the phone world will come in the form of a 4.7-inch display high-ender.

At first, Amazon was allegedly leaning towards a phone with a 4.3-inch display but with other top-tier smartphones entering the market, the company may opt for the larger screen. (The competition being: HTC’s One will have a 4.7-inch screen, Apple’s iPhone 5 has a 4-inch screen, Samsung’s Galaxy S4 will have a 4.8-inch screen and Sony’s Xperia Z phone has a 5-inch display.)

Amazon’s partner, Foxconn, who manufactures their Kindle tablet line, is said to be working on the online retail giant’s debut into the smartphone world, though reports have said that it “has not been as smooth as expected.” This leads analysts to expect a most recent unveiling sometime beyond Q2 2013.

At this time, there is no word on pricing or on what features the Amazon phone will bring to the table other than the rumored 4.7-inch screen. It’s expected to run Android OS, which at that time will most likely have been updated to Key Lime Pie.
