Your humble editor on Beyond the Book, a CCC podcast series

Beyond the Book podcast, Copyright Clearance CenterLate last week I was lucky enough to be featured as a guest on Beyond the Book, a twice-weekly podcast series produced by the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC). Beyond the Book generally covers the business of writing and publishing, and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone who’s interested in staying on top of the publishing industry, and the many changes it’s currently undergoing. You’ll find the program’s archives available for free on the homepage of its website, where you can also download the shows as MP3 files. BTB is also free on iTunes.

Speaking of iTunes, BTB is described there as a program that “explores issues facing the information content industry, and [that] helps creative professionals realize the full potential of their works, while encouraging respect for intellectual property and the principles of copyright.”

The show is hosted by the venerable Christopher Kenneally—an award-winning journalist and author with a truly enviable radio voice—and for the most part, Kenneally and I discussed all-things-TeleRead. (He was especially interested in hearing more about Amazon’s controversial e-book return policy, which we wrote about last week. Our post about the policy, by the way, is still drawing tons of traffic.)

Click here if you’d like to listen to the podcast on the CCC’s site. You can also listen to it in the SoundCloud player, below. (It’s just under 17 minutes long.)

  1. Good job on the CCC podcast, Dan! And may TeleRead again have one of its own in time when resources allow! I’d be curious how others felt about this, and what specific suggestions they might have about content, etc.

  2. Thanks David, and yes, I would love to get a TeleRead podcast up and running. What does everyone else think? Any particular ideas? I’d love to hear ’em …

  3. You might want to look at running one on TalkShoe, if they’re still around, like I did my old “Biblio File” ones. It allows listeners/readers to phone or chat in with questions, which can be fun to participate in and listen to. I haven’t done one there in a while, but I’m sure I could help you get up to speed. Or maybe even moderate it myself if you like.

  4. Hey Chris, that would be fantastic! Let’s definitely talk about this at some point over the next couple of weeks, okay? By the way, are any of your old shows online anywhere, or could you send me some? I’d really like to hear some.
