Whitcoulls will be offering the first mainstream ebook offering in New Zealand starting next month. Ereaders will also be made available.
The actual amount of New Zealand content is not known yet. According to Martin Taylor of the New Zealand Digital Publishing Forum, between 30 and 40 New Zealand publishers have committed to digitizing their books.
We are now seeing the reach of Kobo through its owner REDgroup. Whitcoulls is owned by REDGroup, also, and this potential behemoth in the ebook business is starting to take shape.
