Taiwan cashing in on ebook readers

That’s because most of the displays are made there. According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, Taiwanese Prime View has more than 90% of the epaper market and after it completes its acquisition of US based E Ink Corp. it will acquire key technologies in the color e-ink market. Epaper accounts for more than 50% of Prime View’s income.
Taiwanese AU Optronics, the island’s largest flat panel display maker, just bought a stake in epaper manufacturer SiPix Imaging, Inc. and a rival company, Chi Mei has just signed up with Prime View.
