test (1).jpgI got the following email from Dr. Juan Luis Chulilla Cano, Director, Online and Offline, S.L. and thought I would share it with you:

Dear Paul

I have another picture of the results of motion ink’s smartpad. I posted it on my blog: http://tinta-e.blogspot.com/2009/12/tinta-e-en-el-smartpad-de-notion-ink.html

Automated translation is a disaster, so there is a hasty but human one:

I have been many months waiting for pixel-qi based devices, so as soon as I got news of notion ink’s smartpad, I contacted them in order to obtain as mucho information as possible

I have to say that I was very surprised for the attitude of the CEO of the company. This is the result:

The reason for the low quality of images is that they cannot reveal any further detail before CES, and we’ll have to wait 15 days. Anyways, while we are waiting for watching actual smartpads, I would like to remark that the improvement between prior generation of pixel-qi display (OLPC) and this generation is consideration. If I am right, reading experience is going to be quite satisfying.

It’s quite simple for me: I work a LOT of hours in front of backlighted displays. The possibility of rest my eyes and read contents (not only ebooks, but also internet articles of certain size) make me feel eager until I get a smartpad between my hands.

Another interesting issue of notion ink is their focusing on contents. They catch my attention when they centered their communication efforts in their relation with contents and their providers, although their product is truly remarkable (pixel qi+tegra 2). Think about it, mobile carriers provides contents to their customers already. Their vision is more and more convincing for me: the simplest device that is a good bridge between a user and his preferred content, at any moment and place.

Now, time to wait :)

best regards,

Juan
