A new software for Kindle Touch (5.1.0 update) offers many great features and one of the most important ones, especially for international users, is a possibility to instantly translate the text you read.

Instant translations are powered by Bing Translator. The web tool supports 38 languages, but not all of them are offered in Kindle.

There are currently 16 languages supported in Kindle Touch instant translations: Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish.

Just to reassure you: the translation works both ways (not only from English) and between any two languages.

How to translate text

1. Highlight a text

Tap on a word and hold for a second to highlight it, or tap and move a finger to highlight a sentence or paragraph.

The largest area you can highlight is the text on a current page. In some cases the text (sentence) you want to translate will flow to the next page. Here’s an easy tip to fix it: resize the text to make it flow differently between pages.

2. Run a translation

To translate the selected text, in a dialog box which opens after highlighting, tap on More button.
