Ebooks make the bestseller list

The following is from the Reading 2.0 list. The only link I can find is to a paid subscription only site so I can’t cross check it. Of course, USA Today is sold on the Kindle so there may be a bit of back scratching here.

As of tomorrow’s list, USA Today’s weekly tabulation of bestselling books will include data on Amazon Kindle book sales as a component of their rankings. It’s the first outside list to which Amazon has contributed Kindle sales data, and no doubt industry folks will be watching closely to see what changes it might produce in the week’s rankings.

Amazon’s Laura Porco says in the announcement: “We are thrilled to be contributing Kindle book sales information to USA Today for their comprehensive bestseller list for books customers. Given the great overlap of taste between Kindle customers and physical book buyers, the USA Today Best-Selling Books List is truly reflective of what customers are buying regardless of format.”
