… and publishers think that Apple will be their saviour

Download Squad is reporting that an Apple threatened to remove an iPhone application because it contained a mention, in it’s description, that the app was also a finalist in Google’s Android Developer Challenge. For the app to remain available in the store the developer had to remove any reference to “Android”.
Now I wonder how much publishers will have to put up with when their books enter the Apple store. I suspect it won’t all be the bed of roses that they are expecting.

Hail, Caesar! Oops, I meant, Hail, Jobs! Good question, Paul. Perhaps John Sargent has the answer

A bit alarmist, don’t you think?
Especially since the developer doesn’t seem upset about this (probably because they were’t really threatened so much as asked to reword things to be appropriate to the venue BUT they get lots of free press from the usual suspects blowing a gasket. Wins all round. It’s like a point of honor now to get a “reject” letter from the App Store.)
