Flickr-Getty photo deal: Threat to some Creative Commons freebies for bloggers and Webmasters?

A new Flickr deal with Getty Images will make it much easier for Flickr members to sell their images. Will this significantly reduce the number of Creative Commons freebies available to Webmasters and e-book publishers? Hard to say. Depends on the material.
I doubt that family snapshots and other material of that ilk will be affected. But the arrangement could reduce the number of professional-quality photos available for free Web site use, especially for commercial purposes. I have mixed feelings. On one hand, as a blogger, I love the richness of the collection, even just the part limited to freebies. On the other, I’ll be happy if it’s easier for professional photographers to turn a buck off their trade.
The Microsoft angle: If the Microsoft-Yahoo deal goes through, will the Gates-owned Corbis also try to encourage Flickr photographers to monetize their work?
