“A course entitled War, Politics and Shakespeare incorporated war-related music, asking students to make connections between a variety of protest songs and a selection of Shakespeare plays. As well as specific music functions, the iPods also offered a way to share other students’ work, with some assignments being downloaded on to everyone’s machine.” – BBC, via a SlashDot item on an experiment at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville.

The TeleRead take: For years, we’ve thought that TeleReaders should have multimedia capabilities, and the above is just one more example of the possibilities, not just in higher education but in K-12. Also, notice the reference to sharing? Another illustration of the need for intelligent Digital Rights Management–when copyright protects the music involved. Already a Slashdotter frets that the RIAA may swoop in.
