  1. > 3. The Book I Want Isn’t Available As An E-Book

Good essay, Juli. As we know, Amazon wants to herd north-of-the-border customers into the conglomerate’s Canadian e-store offering somewhat limited selections of books. It would be fascinating to track the related growth in illicit P2P traffic, based on country-related IP info. Would some kind of meaningful research be possible even with pirated books available from a number of sources? I notice that some hacker types revealed that illegal downloads of books and movies were happening in U.S. Congressional offices. So who knows?

Of course the real villains here—by way of pressuring Amazon—would probably be territory-minded publishers rather than Jeff Bezos & friends.
