"This article feels off to me, and not of the usual quality I expect from this site. There's the mean-spirited bitter digs at an act of philanthropy, which make a kind of off-centre ad hominem attack on Ms. Manus as an agent; then there's the poorly connected and half-hearted jabs at agents in general. But the prevailing tone is bitter and the outcome is petty. I'd suggest taking it down, as it ..."

"What's in it for Apple? Not having to pay an even more expensive fine and face sanctions, perhaps? Depending on what sanctions the DoJ deems appropriate if Apple loses, paying the lawyers might actually be the better strategic option. After all, if it's just a matter of money, Apple has more money than God. But being legally required to operate its stores in certain ways could be damaging in the longer term. "

"Dan, Have you by any chance made this 10 chapter tutorial in to a pdf or epub yet as I would love to be able to download it to my copy of Calibre as well as share it with my friends that I have suggested Calibre to in the past. Tom "

"MrsMac: Paul has actually been an occasional TeleRead contributor for quite some time. If you're interested in reading some of his older work (which I recommend), just click on his byline; you'll find some fun stuff. "

"Welcome! I had Microsoft’s Encarta CD-ROM encyclopedia and loved it, so you get points from me right away; but then you quoted Barbara Tuchman and I'm done in. Looking forward to seeing what you bring to TeleRead and all us readers of same. "

"I'm no fan of taxes, much less the high and hidden European VAT scheme, but an element of fairness needs to be part of this debate. Taxes always do some harm where they're applied (i.e. income taxes discourage working). That's why I consider single-tax schemes (i.e. a federal sales tax) as dreadful. Among other things, it creates an enormous incentive to avoid that single tax. All this European trickery is, in part, due to highness of ..."

"This is a marvelous idea with but one exception. Building in a FRS, GMRS and MURS transceiver might make sense if those bands allowed digital transmission but they don't. Including them merely adds to the cost and battery drain. This gadget isn't the right format for a hand-held radio. And for an emergency device, you don't want to put 'all your eggs in one basket.' Communication needs to be separate from locating. Losing one is ..."

"Impressive, particularly the size, lightness and long battery life. News about the death of ePaper is greatly exaggerated. It should be great for proofing texts. A stand that'd let it be placed alongside a regular display, serving as an additional screen, would be great too. And I'd love to see a screen like this become the built-in back of a smartphone for reading or messaging. There's already and add-on for iPhones that does that. I ..."

"Thats a great idea! I'm always "For" when it comes to reading encouragement. And I think working with children is an excellent idea, it's worth showing them that reading isn't boring and only school-related. Reading can be fun and is! Well done! "

"This is an interesting product that I'll be keeping my eyes on. But I've spent some time with a Wacom tablet with Sketchbook Pro, and the key to productivity and low frustration is to be able to select bits and move them around. Haven't seen that discussed for the Sony yet. Granted, my use case is note taking plus visual problem solving with diagrams and models and I'm not much of an artist. Without that type ..."
