st-louis2I am going to be in St. Louis this weekend, visiting relatives, and will have a bit of time to myself to do touristy things—and it occurred to me that surely, St. Louis being the major metro area it is, there might be something there to do with e-books that I could look at for TeleRead. I am already planning to go by way of Columbia, Missouri, in order to check out the Espresso Book Machine at the University of Missouri Bookstore; what else might I find worthy of interest?

I’m primarily interested in book- or e-book-related attractions, but what the heck: if there’s anything else you think I should be sure not to miss, leave a comment. Also, if any TeleRead readers or writers are in the area and would like to meet up, let me know!

  1. “Major metro area”? I can’t tell… was your tongue in your cheek when you wrote that? It’s a metro area. Not sure about the “major” part.

    I kid. A little.

At any rate, there are still some great local book shops there: Left Bank Books, Subterranean, and Big Sleep Books for starters.

  2. I was in St. Louis for a wedding in May, and on our way to the airport, we stopped at the newish downtown location of fine local indie bookstore Left Bank Books. May I recommend a visit? Oh, and for an e-book tie-in, they do sell ebooks online and have a plug on their website (http://www.left-bank.com/) for IndieBound’s new Android/iOS app…
