iPhone to hit China on October 1; boost for ereading?

The Financial Times is reporting that the iPhone will go on sale from China Unicom on October 1. WiFi will be disabled on the device at the insistence of the Chinese government.
We already know that ereading apps are some of the highest sellers and most downloaded on the App Store. It will be interesting to see how many Chinese apps show up

I don’t imagine there’s much of an actual advantage to using the wireless-disabled iPhone for reading, in a country where people are already reading on cellphones, some of which have good, large screens. And yes, those others are less expensive than the iPhone.
Still, it may do well as a purely prestige device. And if it does, I’m sure more of their owners will be reading on them there than they do in the U.S..
