The possible meaning of this in the greater scheme of things: While Fry’s Electronics has a rep for low prices, this could signal forthcoming drops elsewhere—which in turn might mean that Sony is about to come out with new models—perhaps some less expensive versions of its new wireless reader. No proof here! This is tealeaves-and-Kremlinology territory.

Fry’s seems to be working their way through all their ebook readers, putting them on sale for a week at a time. About a month ago a friend of mine picked up a Pocket for $159 there. And the next week a different reader was on sale, and the next week a different brand again. I think they’re just circling through all the options for pre-holiday sales
