The suggested price of the Sony Reader PRS-505 will be 299 euros when it launches in Germany on March 11. That’s also when shoppers ordering from Sony Style or Thalia will get their units. Customers will be able to read thousands of Germany-language books in the ePub format—including translations of world-famous authors such as Ken Follett.
Funny, isn’t it? The Europeans are a long way from switching over entirely to ePub. But they’re still miles ahead of Americans in the format department. Hint, hint, Sony USA. Maybe your e-book store should give up on BBeB and take ePub more seriously. Do BBeB for owners of PRS-500s, which can’t handle ePub—but start phasing in ePub in a major way!
