Read an E-Book Week: March 2-8 this year—for sure!

Rita Toews, creator of Read An E-Book Week, was kind enough to explain the corrected dates. Thanks, Rita! – David
As you mentioned, David, Read An E-Book Week is a different date each year because of the way the month starts. In 2002 I originally registered it as the second full week of March, but over the years it has crept to the second week of March. I didn’t do the promoting last year, and this year when I made up the press release I used the second full week of March.
When the error was brought to my attention I tried to correct it, but a lot of press releases had gone out. Mea culpa.
The Biff Mitchell dates were from a few years back when he promoted the week while I was out of the country.
I’ve redone the site with the correct days and had hoped that anyone interested in the week would visit the site and see that the dates runs from March 2 – 8th.
Yes, a lot of hard work goes into doing the Web site and contacting people about the e-books and the week. Mistakes happen. This was very unfortunate and totally of my own doing. I will be much more careful next year.
On the upside, we’ve caught the attention of some very fine organizations and Web sites. I had an email from a representative of a major publisher who will try to do something with us this year; however, the time for them to contribute this year is a bit short. Maybe next year.
Please visit our site—visit the people on the Sponsors page, hunt down the hidden goodies—and most of all—forgive me for the error.
David again: By the way, Rita, I like your hyphen and cap usages: Read an E-Book Week. Meanwhile here’s a friendly suggestion. Catch up with a fellow Canadian, Mike Smith, the new executive director of the IDPF, and see if next year he can’t get the full power of the group behind the “Week” cause. Glad to hear of a large publisher’s interest. If that publisher wants to go on record this year as supporting you, I’ll run yet another post.
