That’s the end of Moynihan note quoting results from an online quiz to determine what kind of superhero you are.

I myself think the Conde Nast/Advance folks and David could be all be heroes if they arrived at a sensible compromise—I actually see hope for him if he will be flexible: I doubt that the RIAA would have shown as much forbearance as Conde has so far. What’s more, I remain worried that David’s legal arguments won’t hold up and might actually hurt the cause of the public domain. Not to mention the return of his super-valuable multiformat site if the case bankrupts him. While David and his site are/were both fun, I’m pro-copyright despite my believing that Hollywood-bought politicians have overdone it with such beauts as the Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act.

At any rate, the TeleBlog will be fair. Conde Nast lawyers, whose less-than-flattering opinion of David I’ve already passed on, are very welcome to take The Test and share with me the results. Granted, Superman is disgustingly mainstream–I must have blown it with my “reporter” answer (see quiz).

Update, 1:04: David just sent another note: telling me he can’t say much more. Among the TeleBlog’s followers, he says, are–yes, the Advance/Conde lawyers. I invite them to write in as well. David adds: “What’s the quiz? Only saw the heading…” Hmm: I hope that’s because he was too busy reading the law books.

Further thoughts: Here’s a conspiracy theory. Could David actually be working for Conde Nast and using the suit to generate publicity for the company’s properties? Naw. Still, I suspect that publicity about the Blackmask case is having the effect of raising the value of Doc Savage and other disputed works.
