Leaky PDF makes laughingstock of U.S. Justice Department

Pity the poor U.S. Justice Department, which via a leaky PDF, unwittingly revealed some blacked-out wiretap data to anyone who knew how to use Ctrl-C.
Here’s the irony. The redacted document didn’t contain information that was that sensitive. Oh, and this wasn’t the first time a PDF-related leak embarrassed the feds. Proper use of PDF—well, technically proper—could prevent such episodes.
The good news: Maybe future bumbling will tell us more about the feds’ attempts to spy illegally on people’s use of e-books or other items in e-archives.
